Eye Health | Heidleberg Retina Tomograph
HRT is a confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscope. A laser light scans the retina in 24 millisecond sequential scans, starting above the retina surface then capturing parallel images and decreasing depths. The stacks of images are aligned to make a 3D topographic image of the retina. This is used for the early detection of glaucoma before it shows as visual field loss.
We are the only private practice in Northern Ireland to hold this piece of specialised equipment, the others are based in the glaucoma clinics in the hospitals.
